Top 4 Reasons to Outsource and Offshore your Business Tasks

Outsource and offshore to overseas remote freelancers

Outsourcing and offshoring are arguably one of the reasons there are so many online successes today. The online marketplace has grown by leaps and bounds and there is no stopping it as this Deloitte survey on outsourcing found.

The rise of the likes of Amazon has helped lead businesses online by competing with the traditional brick and mortar establishments.

And from the growth and revenue that Amazon among other tech giants has seen in the last decade, things can only get better (or worse depending on where you stand).

The trend has also seen traditional HR and recruitment channels abandoned and outsourcing and offshoring to freelancers embraced.

Although business processes outsourcing and offshoring has been in existent for a long time, as time goes by, the trend has seen almost all business processes outsourced or offshored. From bookkeeping, web design and development, to customer service, drop shipping, and even virtual assistants.

If you haven’t already started to outsource your business tasks, you will definitely be forced to look into hiring remotely to overseas freelancers in the near future. You need to start thinking like a successful business owner.

And although recruiting freelance workers can be frustrating, nothing is more satisfying than having a team that can handle your business processes even in your absence.

But really, why should you hire a freelancer and where is the best place to source for freelancers?

  1. Remote workers cost less than in-house employees

This is a no-brainer, hiring remote or offshore workers means you don’t have to worry about overheads. When you outsource, you can forget about paying for office space or buying office furniture and equipment for multiple employees.

remote workHeck, you don’t even have to pay anyone’s health insurance or file tax returns for anyone either (except yourself).

Is that not already enough to outsource and offshore? No?

Okay, what about salaries? When you outsource, you do not need to pay fixed salaries. This must be a relief right? Freelancers and offshoring companies and agencies often work on a need basis and charge project wise.

How do you benefit?

Picture this, you have a decked out office whose rent needs to be paid and several in-house employees. You need to settle the power bill, probably water bill too, and pay for cleaning services.

No problem right?

What happens when business slows down? Does your landlord reduce your rent or lease payments? I am guessing not.

Do your employees take home half the months’ salary because business was not as good this month? I doubt it.

Don’t take me wrong, I have nothing against maternity, paternity leave or annual leave.

As a business owner, and relying on employee input to earn revenue, not having to pay employees on either of these leaves means you spend less and therefore can invest more, either in yourself or in your business.

And that is exactly what you get when you outsource. You spend less on remuneration.

  1. You get more time to do the things you love (freedom)

Who doesn’t like freedom? I know I do. As a matter of fact, I don’t just like freedom. I love it! And when I say freedom, I am talking about not having to stay in the office from 9 to 5. Why should I?

I am talking about doing what I want when I want. Who said you can’t work and play at the same time? Or better yet, why don’t you outsource then take some time off while a team of freelancers holds down the fort.

It sounds like a dream, but to tell you the truth, there are people living the dream out there. Heck, I bet you know that one person who always seems to be doing something other than work.

And that guy has you wondering how he seems to be doing so well while he never leaves the house or never seems to work.

I am almost certain that if you know one of those blokes who seem to have it all for no work, and asks them how they run their business, you’ll realize on just how much outsourcing and offshoring saving them money and affording them the time to do what they love.

Running a business is not easy. However, it does not have to take up all your time. You don’t have to worry about your marketing every other time.

Neither do you need to break the bank to hire in-house or postpone that camping trip because you are worried about your business.

Whether you are looking to spend some quality time with your family, hang out with friends, or just have some me time, when you outsource to overseas freelancers, you get the time you need to do other things that matter more or spend time with loved ones.

  1. You outsource to professionals with expertise and experience in their area

Outsourcing and offshoring give you the opportunity to recruit and only hire the best fit for the particular job you want to be done. When you outsource or offshore, chances are you are looking for the best talent for a particular task.

If you are serious about your business, you do not want a jack of all trades, unless you are offshoring to an agency with a full team. You want to outsource to a specialized professional.

And contrary to popular belief, outsourcing to specialized freelancers gives you the best return for your buck. The freelance industry has come of age and freelancers have realized the benefit of niching out.

What this means is that these professionals invest their time and money in training courses to be among the best, if not the best at what they do. For business owners, it means you get your work done professionally and to the highest of specifications.

Unlike what you might believe, outsourcing to an expert graphic designer, social media marketer, or social media manager beats hiring a ‘virtual assistant’ who most employers expect to do all the above.

Chances are if you outsource to a jack of all trades, some crucial business processes will suffer and not perform as well. Of course, a single freelancer could be competent with one, two, or even three tasks.

However, most just can’t do everything for you, and when they can, don’t be surprised if they under deliver.

  1. You can work from anywhere

This is the proverbial cherry on top. Maybe even the icing on the cake.

The purpose of outsourcing and offshoring might be to reduce the pressure of running a business and employing in-house. But, the ability to work remotely crowns it all.

working on the goIf you are like me, nothing beats remote work. It means you can travel and not worry about getting things done. It means you can schedule your tasks around whichever time you deem fit. And that right there is freedom.

The bulk of freelancers, especially for western businesses, are in Africa and Asia. Having a team from the different parts of the globe has its advantages.

For instance, what happens at the close of business your time? You switch off and you go and have some personal or family time. Essentially, this means that your business is pretty much put on hold for the entire time you are out of the office.

When you outsource and offshore, you can hire freelancers from a part of the globe where it’s daytime when your time is at night. Think of it like running your business for a cool 24 hours when you need it.

All you have to do is to plan the tasks that you need to be done by the time you wake up, assign them, and send them to a freelancer of choice. Then business can continue in the morning like you never even left!

As you can already tell the benefits of outsourcing and offshoring will not only afford you more time to concentrate on what you do best, you also save money in the process. However, you need to figure out what you need to outsource and where or who to outsource to first.

Assuming you are now wondering, how do I start outsourcing and offshoring and why should I outsource?
